If you do like vintage builds, it definitely doesn’t get much better than MQ, imo. If ordering from MQ make sure you ask for clear high definition photos for QC. White spots and etc are dust and lint on the dial. The photos on MQ's website are different from the dial he will send. I don't see much difference with Phong. As for the movement, Phong has 2 versions, a very high grade V727 and a lower grade V727. Not sure if the 6.5k usd is for the high grade or low grade. So, why do you guys prefer the Cousins 302's vs Phong/MQ 301? Attached the MKI's from MQ. A high grade dial from MQ is about 7-8 while a gen is 10. So while a DW dial is decent and better than Cartel it's not Great. I wouldn't beat yourself up trying to get a DW.
One main thing that determines how close a repdial is to original is how close the cliché plate is to the genuine dial to start with. "honestly MQ, phong, ruby etc. could be spot on if they pay attention to detail." One problem (imho) could . Practically ALL his CGs and lugs require reworking. I'm planning to have a good OOTB 6263 and possibly modded, and down the line a custom made 6263 using Phong case, Phong bezel, MQ Dial, and a real Valjoux 72, if not I'll get my hands on a st-19 and freeze the hour subdial at the 6:00 and so . With all the awesome vintage Daytona's popping up lately, I'm thinking of skipping all the fun and going straight to Phong for a 6239/6241. I've got my beautiful 6265 franken Phong based, with gen Sigma black dial.
Got a reply from MQ. Now his dials are for the gen Rolex movements and not for others. He can make a custom dial for ETA movements, but the price is 00 .
